American Society for Bariatric Surgery - Founded in 1983. It is an excellent organization formed by American surgeons that provides educational and support programs for surgeons and allied health professionals.

American Obesity Association - Educates people about obesity and the illness and unnecessary deaths it causes. They also help health care professionals with assisting their patients battle obesity, and pride themselves on providing information for preventing obesity in children. In addition they deal with government officials and legistlators to get funding for obesity research and try to end economic and legal discrimination against those who suffer from obesity.
